You Are on Course for Fun

Margaret RiverWith stunning coastlines, towering karri, green hills and rolling farmland, there can be no better setting for the grand sport of golf than Margaret River. Golfers here enjoy the abundant flora and fauna, including kangaroos, geese, rabbits and varieties of colourful birds.

The region is home to a variety of courses, including the 18-hole, par 72 Margaret River Golf Club. Other courses in the Margaret River region include the Dunsborough Lakes Golf Course, the Augusta Hillview club and the Broadwater near Busselton. The Capel Golf Course just outside of the official wine-growing region is also worthy of note.

Curl Up with Surfing

With its inviting Mediterranean climate and more than 40 great locations to hit world-class waves, there is little wonder why Margaret River is one of the world’s premier surfing destinations. Conditions range from powerful reef breaks to fun beach waves. Several leading national and international competitions are held in the region each year (see Festivals and Events).

Get Hooked on Fishing

Margaret RiverSurrounded by ocean on three sides, fishing is a natural in Margaret River. Popular fishing spots include the rocks at Cowaramup Bay as well as the beaches at Quindalup, Smiths Beach, Dunsborough, Picquet, Wyadup rocks, Rocky Point and Wright Bank. In addition, huge schools of Australian salmon make their way up the coast north to Perth on their annual spawning run between May and June and are keenly sought by anglers.
