Crafts and Arts Abound

Margaret RiverIs a holiday really a holiday without a spot of shopping? In Margaret River, a place famous for its art and artists, shopping means visiting one or more of the numerous galleries, potteries and studios sprinkled through the region. Here you are invited to experience the unique and diverse works of local and visiting artisans who have found inspiration in the local beauty.

Margaret River is also rich in history and culture and the works of award-winning craftsmen resonant with distinctly Margaret River colours and textures. Look for fine arts, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, glassworks, paintings and photography.

You are also invited to watch glass artisans at work and inspect their work and even try your hand at ceramics, painting, sculpture and more at one of the many local galleries and workshops.

Wardan Aboriginal Culture Centre

Margaret RiverOf special note is the Wardan Aboriginal Culture Centre for a celebration of Aboriginal arts in a region where Aboriginal history has been traced back 55,000 years. The Centre has been developed by the Wardandi people as a place where they can share their culture with visitors, school groups and Aboriginal people from other areas in an effort to increase understanding and reconciliation with the wider community. The Centre has a number of facilities, including Bush Story Trail, Art Gallery, Tool-making Workshops, Art, Music and Dance Areas.
